The Cooperative Agriculture Program supports agricultural practices on National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS) lands that advance the Fish and Wildlife Service’s conservation and resource management objectives. The program enables private individuals and small businesses to conduct farming activities that directly benefit wildlife habitat and species management.
Purpose and Use:
Funding and cooperative agreements support:
- Production or modification of cover types that meet life history requirements for target species (e.g., waterfowl production)
- Production of food sources for wildlife species with established management objectives
- Maintenance, rehabilitation, or reestablishment of natural habitat on refuge lands
